Pray that God will alert you when you are grumbling. Ask Him to reveal to you every time you have a discontented or complaining spirit. Resolve to renounce that selfish attitude and replace it with spoken words of gratitude. If you are saying those complaining words to others and infecting their mind, you owe them an apology, but be aware that an apology cannot take away the infection of negative comments. Ask God to guard your tongue. Perhaps you need to ask Him to cleanse your heart in this area. Memorize Philippians 4:4 and repeat it often until your attitude becomes one of praise and rejoicing instead of murmuring and complaining.
Turn Scripture into a Personal Prayer:
Do everything without complaining and arguing… Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 2:14 and 4:4
Make me aware of my grumbling. Help me to stop, think, and pray. No one enjoys being around a complainer and grumbler. Philippians 4:4 says to rejoice in the Lord always. I want to replace complaining with rejoicing. Instead of a complaining spirit, give me a rejoicing, praying spirit. Amen1
